Realities of The Virus: The Losses Are All Too Real

Most people who will read this already know the truth. The losses that this virus has caused are all too real.
Unfortunately, there are still those out there who believe that the number of deaths caused by covid are inflated. They also still believe that it’s only the elderly or those with underlying conditions that pass on.
The callousness of those people is heartbreaking. And yet, I know that many of them are lost and led astray. And so, I pray that they have the strength to someday accept the reality of this time and of this disease.
First off, it shouldn’t matter how old or young a person is. Every death should matter. Not just the young and the healthy. Second, it’s just not true that covid kills only one type of person. Covid has killed the old, the young, the healthy, the unhealthy, and everyone in between. And every death has left a soul-sized void in the universe.
Every day, more and more people join the survivor support groups to which I belong so that they can mourn and find solace for the painful losses that they have endured. My heart breaks for them over and over. Day after day. While covid deniers still try to bury their head in the sand.
Today, churches across the country joined together to pray for the souls lost to this terrible disease. In solidarity and support of this day, I post this and add to my gallery a tribute in loving memory of some of those beloved souls.
You are gone but not forgotten. And even though it may be hard to bear the pain of the truth, we will not allow the pain of your loss to be swept under the rug.
