Voting Protection- I was right. It hurt. But, it was worth it.

I’ve been pretty quiet this last week and honestly, it’s because I have been exhausted.

I do have important things to catch people up on.

For example, I was recently interviewed on Daily Mail TV talking about the effects of long-covid. A link to the interview can be found here and in my link library.

I also am in the middle of a serious battle with my disability insurance provider and I had another barrage of tests that I am waiting on results for. More on that later.

I mentioned in an earlier post that I volunteered for voting protection activities last weekend and on Tuesday. (See post here)

I did so knowing that it was going to suck up all my limited energy and brain capacity and might be dangerous for my health. And, well, I was right.

The rest of the week, I was so tired. I honestly couldn’t bring myself to focus on much of anything.

I suppose I was also dealing with the election anxiety that many of us have been dealing with. But, between the two, I was essentially bedridden.

Friday afternoon, I was still feeling completely wiped. But, I answered a last-minute call to help cure ballots anyway.

I was tired and I knew it probably wasn’t the smartest move health-wise. But, I did it anyway.

Some things are just worth the risk and worth the trouble.

By the time I got home, I couldn’t do much other than fall asleep. But, I forgot one thing. I forgot that I needed to pick up a turkey the next morning.

The next morning, I felt like I was hungover. It took everything in me just to crawl out of bed.

I drank coffee mixed with a protein shake and made the drive to pick up the turkey. But, I nearly collapsed and promptly fell asleep when I did make it home.

Everything feels like it hurts. But, I’d do it again.

Honestly, I saw a glimpse of the old me for a second. The woman on a mission.

No one should have their vote taken away for no good reason. And regardless of which side you voted for, the one thing that this election should teach us is that our vote is very, very important. It does matter. It should never be taken lightly.

This next week, I’ll have to return to the hard work of working on my health, fighting with disability insurance, and advocating with and for fellow long-haulers.

I do so knowing that I have a backlog of issues to deal with. But, I ultimately have no regrets.
